Since when have you been working for AKA Recruitment International?
I have been working at AKA Recruitment since the beginning of 2015 after completing my Master’s coursework.
What is it that you like most of you job and what is the most challenging part?
The thing I love most about my job is assisting people to follow their career paths and finding them work in Cape Town. It is rewarding to witness how they grow and develop and to know you played a role in making their dreams come true. I think the biggest challenge is finding a balance between the candidate’s expectations and the reality of the labour market. So sometimes you need to convince the candidate why he/she should go for a particular position which can be difficult at times, though in the end they trust our views and know that we have their best interest at heart considering that we are the market leaders with over 20 years of experience.
What is most exciting about working in a multi-cultural team?
I think it is highly beneficial to work in a multi-cultural team as you are exposed to different backgrounds and practices. It provides an opportunity to view things from different perspectives and amend your interpersonal skills to ensure effective interactions.
If you got stuck in the elevator and was forced to listen to only one song, which would it be?
The current track on repeat is the Shape of you by Ed Sheeran. The beat is so infectious and you can’t help but sing along (even though I cannot sing at all and I assume I will be alone in the elevator which mean I can totally rock out).
Where could people find you in your spare time?
Well, I have two passions in life, that is reading and coffee. So whenever I can combine them I do. I am always on the lookout for the best cafes in Cape Town and my top picks would be Truth Coffee Shop and Seattle Coffee chain stores which can be found all over Cape Town though my favourite locations include the one in Claremont and the CBD centre.
